BUCHAREST HERALD | The new bridge that spans the Danube between Calafat and Vidin will be inaugurated most likely on June 15, Romanian Premier Victor Ponta announced on Sunday. Present in Bulgaria’s Ruse, Ponta stated that the inauguration will take place in the presence of European Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn, Agerpres informs.
During a press conference organized for Romanian journalists, Ponta stated that the government has adopted a decision through which it proposes to Parliament to ratify the agreement between Romania and Bulgaria on setting up a mixed company that would administer the new bridge. Also on Sunday, during a joint press conference with the Romanian Premier, Sergei Stanishev, President of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and also President of the Party of European Socialists, asked for the speeding up of the procedure to inaugurate the bridge between Vidin and Calafat.
